What is the Woman of Achievement Award?
For 27 years, YWCA Alaska has honored Women of Achievement. The Women of Achievement ceremony pays tribute to women who give of their time and energy to make our community a better place. It recognizes and honors women who have demonstrated qualities of leadership and excellence in their professional and personal endeavors as well as their contributions to the larger community.
This annual program, inspiring to both women and men, encourages women and girls to develop into leaders in their community and professional roles. YWCA Alaska requests nominations through advertising in newsprint, social media, TV and radio. A selection committee reviews all submitted applications and selects 10 awardees based on the award criteria.
Each year we are honored to recognize the amazing women in our state and celebrate their achievements.
What is the Youth Award?
For 17 years, YWCA Alaska has recognized youth ages 16 – 18 who have overcome significant obstacles in their lives while embodying the YWCA Alaska’s mission to eliminate racism, empower women, stand up for social justice, help families and strengthen communities while promoting dignity, peace, freedom and justice for all.
This event celebrates the remarkable youth in our state. Each awardee receives a CASH prize, FREE financial management classes at YWCA Alaska to help them prepare for their future as an adult AND statewide recognition. YWCA Alaska requests nominations through advertising in newsprint, social media, TV and radio. A selection committee reviews all submitted applications and selects awardees based on the award criteria.
